It absolutely blows my mind that Adam Scott struggles with his putting. He was 147th in putting the first two days this week, with SIX 3-putts. Three of those were from inside 5ft, hard to score with stats like that. I've a been a huge fan of since day one and that will not change, but it is extremely frustrating to watch!

There a lot of VERY good players that share your dream.

My suggestion is that you first assess your skills against the best competition that you can find before ever committing to playing on a pro tour. An accurate way to perform this type of assessment and, at the same time, build up your tournament readiness is to qualify for and compete in high level regional and national amateur events.

Some examples:
1. Plan to qualify and play in the state amateur championship for your state and those of the surrounding states in your region of the Country.
2. Sign up play for qualification to play in the US Amateur, and then (if you do qualify), go for it --- you are off to play against some of the best.

How many state and /or championships did you qualify for? Where did you finish in each of these events against the field? How many events did you win or were you in the mix to win? Do this will give you fun and very challenging way to get a truly honest answer about how you would perform if you take the next step and decide to pursue a career in competitive golf as a professional..

I would categorize “Staffers” as “Brand Ambassadors”, using the categories that Titleist uses. Many are listed as “Ball Players” and a lot of others use some Titleist clubs but only Brand Ambassadors represent the Titleist name. That really narrows it down quite a bit.

Seems obvious --- but the best thing that you can do to help your scoring is practice those kinds of shots that you will likely need to get around the golf course in the least number of strokes.

When you do go out to practice, you should probably dedicate a fair amount of time each day on your short game. Work on your wedges and half wedges, bunker shots, chip shots, and putting (particularly from 4-8 feet). Challenge yourself to get it up and down and in the hole from less than perfect situations (thin lies, downhill in a bunker, sitting in a divot, anywhere) in two shots. With this kind of practice, you will build confidence, so that missing the green or hitting into a less than perfect position is still a very manageable situation.

A hot shot game will help you go low when your tee to green game is on, and rescue a good round from a bad one when it's not.

Great question! I’m sure there are stats somewhere. I did it back in September of last year without realizing it. Had my 65th birthday and a week later shot 65. Didn’t really hit me until about a month later when a group of us were talking about shooting your age.

Currently 54 and shot my age thru 12 (5 over) but ended up 10 over. I'll need 10 years before I have a chance to shoot my age. LOL

Last year, at 71, I missed shooting my age by a shot three times and by two shots maybe a half a dozen times while still playing off the regular tees. With a couple of swing changes that I made over the off months, I'm now hitting the ball higher, maybe a club longer, and much more consistently. Coupled with my short game, I think it will happen for me this year.

stay calm and relax, if you play your practice rounds as full tournament rules I find that helps, counting everything, making every putt, eventually it becomes just routine that lends to better golf in tournaments. DO NOT overthink, have fun as you work your way around the course and accept the ebbs and flows of a competitive round. Go get it!

I thought Sunday was a great finish, a thrilling up and down roller coaster. For a minute there I thought Justin Rose might do it, and I got pretty excited at the thought. Would have been fun to see him pull it off after all the times he's come so close. Happy for Rory though, that was fun to watch.
