How many rounds on your ball

I like seeing how many rounds I can play the same ball. Last year I got to 4 18 hole round and 5 9 hole rounds before I lost it in a water filled greenside bunker boy was I bummed. My current ProV1X has 3 18 hole rounds and 3 9 hole league rounds on it. Is there any down side to playing a ball this long? Does any one else do this? If so how many rounds have you made it to? -Todd

One new ball per start of the round. Then it gets promoted to a practice/shag ball for the short game area and then when all luster is gone/cover damaged it gets to live its twilight years in the nearby driving range for all to appreciate that Titleist ProV1 feeling...

I was hoping the second round of testing had happened. I would love to do a side by side myself. I do that often during practice rounds, same shot different ball, see what the outcomes yield.

Left Dash vs. Left Dot Testing

Attached is my first test with P wedge and 7 iron with 718 AP3s. My swing is rusty at the moment as I haven't swung a club in months. But This is my first initial testing of the current left dash vs. left dot. My initial thoughts, left dot is slightly longer in carry with a higher ball speed although my club head speed was a bit higher with left dot. P wedge 0.6 higher and 7i 2.3 mph higher. My AOA is a bit flat but during my initial testing it was a lot higher when I haven't swung a club for so long (a tendency I'm working to fix).

I'm sure I will get rip apart for my awful swing but I figured i shared some initial data. I will redo this test once again. I will then conduct this test on course when I get some time.

2-3 rounds depending on how much contact has been made with the trees. But if there's a few cuts i'll swap it out.

What it sounds like is that the double dot is a mix of a pro v1 x and a left dash. If that's right then I think that would be a great ball for the market. am i right or wrong? I would love for it to come to white box testing or retail. I'm interested to hear thoughts

If this is true, that makes sense. Higher clubhead speed should yield a higher ball speed, and with the same club, a longer carry. Not sure why you are concerned with the left dash? Unless you can't find any to purchase?

It would be kind of nice, in a reminiscing way, to take those out to a private grassy area with a persimmon driver. The sound alone would be worth it. But I'd want to be able to get them back for another try, some other day!

I prefer and play the Pro VIX. Generally, I will use a ball until all of the good shots are used up in it --- then it goes into the the shag bag. When the shag bag is full, the balls all go to First Tee, and I start over filling it back up.

I work at a golf course so I find all the balls I play and do not know how many holes are on them. I tend to play until they are scuffed and then to the shag bag.

I play a prov1x every round that involves some kind of competition. In casual round or just practicing I use a ball that may have been played 2 or three rounds. After that they are used for chipping and putting practice. When they finally get dull they go into the golf closet for some unknown reason. Maybe to give to the grandsons when they can appreciate what they were given and are good enough to not lose all of them in one round.

From what I've interpreted with Cameron Young and the Double Dot ProV1X, I'm thinking it's an even lower spinning version of the Left Dash - since he needs additional launch but not the spin.

My bag only has Prov1s, #8. Would never do something like that. I would feel guilty. Practice balls belong on the range, not the course.

Hole #17 today my friend made his first eagle and wanted to save the ball but was using a practice ball sure enough he switched it with a prov1 to remember it with always use a titleist ball.

The Ball Plant 3 tour is amazing. The process to make golf balls was fascinating and the attention to details throughout the entire process made me wonder why a dozen balls doesn't cost more. If you are in the New Bedford area, it is worth the time to arrange to get a tour. One thing is for sure --- a switch away from the current balls back to balata balls would take care of the distance issue that is currently the subject of a proposed roll back in distance.
