TPI visit

I have the opportunity to go to TPI and Scotty Cameron Studio for a full fitting day, and I am very much looking forward to it. Any advice before going? I'm planning to get there early to do the TPI screen/warmup, but anything else I should make sure to do?

Bring your clubs and shoes you wear most often when you play. Don’t be afraid to discuss your needs, trends, and desires with your fitter. Let him know what your “big miss” is and what you would like most from your new set. And as beautiful as the place is, don’t worry if you take a divot. :) Enjoy!

I’m planning to get a fitting for the new GTS series in the next 2 weeks. The 2 best places I’ve found are a short drive into NC. One is the Titleist Fitting Center at Wakefield Plantation in Wake Forest and the Titleist fitting center at Pinehurst.

Does anyone have good or bad experiences with either of these places and their fitters?

Jeff at Wakefield does a very good job and it is likely your fitting will be outside. The fitting center at Pinehurst has all the technology and it’s a really fun time. I believe all the fittings are done inside, but you are right next to the practice range, so I guess they would let you venture outside. You can’t go wrong with either one.

What you should use and what performs best? Big guy here and use the GolfPride Mid Size MCC +4. Was recommended to me years ago, tried them and have stayed with them. They feel good in the hands. Nice firm grip.

Did the fitter determine what grip size you should use? I have been through a couple fittings (not Titleist [emoticon:2e0881b394ea47039c4b7e5eed46a79e]) and they always just asked what size I liked. Currently using mid size plus 4. Would like to verify that is the size I should use.

I am playing the GT3 @ 10 degrees and just completed a fitting, and the numbers came back with the GTS3 @ 9 degrees. My question is that in my current driver I have the Ventus blue 6X velo-core, this wasn't available in during the fitting, so we used the Fujikura Project X Hzrdus 60 X shaft. The numbers were good, and showed near equal carry distance, but more overall distance by 10 - 12 yards. Can I expect the same or hopefully better performance if I put my current shaft in the new head? I am 64 yrs old with a 2 hcp. now, but usually during season I will drop to a 0 hcp, showing 104 - 106 swing speed, 280 - 288 total distance.

Correct. True Temper makes the Project X shafts. Fujikura makes the Ventus and Speeder shafts.

It is my belief that standard size men's grips are too small for most golfers and an additional 1-2 layers of build up tape is beneficial - 1 additional layer of tape is 1/10" in additional diameter. Mid size grips with reduced taper at additional 2 wraps equivalent for the lower hand is a good step up for most (small hands excluded) golfers.

I’m not sure if it’s a mistake in your original post but I’ve not heard of a Fujikura Project X Hzrdus, I thought that fujikura and Project X were 2 different manufacturers, or is this some sort of collaboration shaft?

Like Dale says, why didn’t you try your existing shaft in the new head. Usually that is a starting point unless you don’t like your current shaft

Usually the start of any fitting is to create a baseline using your existing driver. If you had it with you during the fitting, why didn’t you try to test with that shaft? It is removable just like all the test shafts they had. You might have missed your opportunity to get your best answer based on your actual swing, not us giving an opinion based on your numbers.

I've been swinging Titleist for over 25 years and my last fitting was about 25 years ago!! Lately (last 10 years or so), I've been swinging original (first year) AP2s that were bought at a yard sale and are the same specs as my fitting from 25 years ago (1/2" long and 2 degrees upright). I'm FINALLY getting a new fitting this month 5/26. I really wanted to get to Manchester Lane in Acushnet, MA but it's 5.5 hour drive and it's just not practical. So I opted for a fitting with a more local Titleist guy. I've been deadset against the GG fitting because every time I'm in there and their guys see me at the Titleist aisle, they invariably encourage me to try other stuff, even though I'm standing there in a Titleist hat and tell them I've been swinging Titleist my entire adult life. So I'm excited for my upcoming fitting with a real Titleist guy and any pointers are appreciated. I'll chime in again after the fitting happens.

This past week I went to get fit for clubs at the Manchester Lane Facility. This was my first time getting fitted for clubs and I wanted to create this thread to talk about my experience and allow others to share their experiences of getting fitted for clubs.

The facility was absolutely gorgeous even in the winter, and the hospitality from all of the Titleist staff was above and beyond. They made the experience feel so personal and it helped me ease the nerves. As a gear head I loved every step of the fitting process from trying different shafts and clubs heads to seeing the numbers and improvements. A special shout-out to my fitter Chris O'Rourke for such an amazing experience and comprehensive fitting. He walked me through everything he was looking at and made me feel confident with my new clubs. I ended up getting put into the GT2 driver and hybrid, GT280 Mini Driver, T250 4 Iron, T150 5-PW, and the new SM11 wedges. The new clubs are expected to come in two weeks and I am looking forward to taking them on the courses for the 2026 season.

Shafts for fairway woods

Do you typically play the same shafts throughout your fairway woods or have them progressively heavier?

I was fit (through a Titleist fitting) for a GT3 driver with a Hzdrus 60g 6.0 shaft and a 16.5 degree GT2 with a Hzdrus 70g 6.0 shaft. Thinking about adding a 7 wood to the bag and wondering if I should stay in the Hzdrus 70g or move to the 80g.

Fitted at Titleist for driver (GT3) and fairways (GT1) and have the same weigh shafts in all clubs.
Just added a hybrid (not Titleist fitted) which has a 10g heavier shaft and I really feel the extra weight. It has taken a short while to get used to this.
I would absolutely recommend going back and having a specific fitting to make sure it fits with the rest of your bag and that you are comfortable with the new club(s).

I play the Ventus black TR 6s tipped 5/8 of an inch in my driver, and play a Obama Kiyoshi purple 7x in my 3 wood, I like that it gives me a little higher trajectory off turf.

I think when if I pick up a GTS 3 wood I’ll order it with a Ventus blue TR 7x

This set up is based on my fitter's recommendations. He has never let me down. Each of my hybrids are set one degree strong. Great set up for me. I am a senior (79) and just do not have the swing speed I use to possess. My hybrids were 85gm when I was playing a 65gm stiff driver and hitting my drives over 250. My favorite hybrids were the 818s, 85gm with Fujikura Speeder Shafts. There were hot.

It's an old assaumption that you need to step up the weight as you go through the line. Depends on what you are looking for from each club, and a club fitter can help you achieve your desired result better than the old assumptions. I play 3 different shafts for my driver, 3 wood, & 5 wood. All 60 gram class Graphite Design.
I tend to put too much spin on my driver so they gave me the AD-XC shaft. They assumed that due to my age I should be in a 50 gram shaft, but I was getting better results with the 60.
I use the 3 wood probably 80% off a tee and 20% from fairways and went with the AD-DI. A little more spin and higher loft, and the 60 worked best for me.
My 5 wood is pretty much a fairway & light rough club, and has the AD-VR shaft. About the same spin and loft as the DI but swings smoother, and again the 60 gram works best for me.
Stepped up to the AD DI Hybrid 70 gram for my U505 utility 4, and the 80 gram for my 5 hybrid. The U505 has been misbehaving for the last month, and I'm hoping it's just the seasonal flu.

I currently game players distance irons because I’m a mid-handicap (6.2 index) at my club and was looking for forgiveness. I’m a high swing speed player, averaging 110 with driver. Here’s the issue, last week a played a round with my buddy’s clubs which are blades with project x 6.5 shafts. I couldn’t miss. My irons, and fairwoods are massively inconsistent and I have gapping issues at the bottom of my bag because of the players distance irons.

Currently I game: TSI3 driver with tensei raw white 65 x 16.5 gt3 fairway with tensei 1K black 75s 19 gt2 hybrid with tensei 1k black 85s T200 4-p amt white S Vokey 46,52,58 DG wedge flex.

PW is stock 152 46 is stock 134 52 is stock 122 58 is stock 104 Yes, it’s fun to hit it long, but it’s more fun to play better and i feel as if the T200’s are too long, but I also know I need the help.

I seem to keep finding “hot spots” in the irons and I can’t control them like I would like.

Any similar handicaps with similar speeds deal with this and what was the fix?

I got a Titleist fitting last year, fitted to the GT2 Driver with Project X Denali Red 50 GT. My driving has never been better the entire year. A great fit inspires confidence = fairways hit. And fairways hit = increased confidence.. The head and the shaft really help keep a tighter dispersion. Extremely happy with the club and results.

For French players, I have just went to the renovated Titleist fitting centre at Chantilly golf course. Great experiences with pro V1 balls, trackman, possibility to try several combinations of iron heads and shaft.
I managed to gain 10-15% of carry thanks to great advice and right mix of iron, shaft, loft and weight adjustments for the heads, ...
During the fitting, he made me try a hybride 4 to replace the 5 iron, which made sense in terms of distance gain after the 6 iron.

If you are willing to change your golf set in France, going to Chantilly Titleist fitting centre is clearly a must!
